30mm Standard Timber Stair Tread

Elevate your staircase with our precision-machined 30mm thick solid timber stair tread, expertly crafted for durability, comfort, and a seamless fit in modern Queensland homes.

Dimensions & Profile:

  • Thickness: 30mm (finished at 29.5mm to fit nicely into strings)
  • Going: 240mm or 250mm
  • Total width: 260mm or 270mm (includes a 20mm overhang/nosing for a classic, elegant projection that enhances safety and aesthetics)
  • Front edge: Attractive 6mm pencil round nose profile – a subtle, smooth rounded edge that provides a refined look, reduces sharp corners
  • Underside: Features a 20mm deep riser groove precision-milled to securely accommodate standard 18mm thick risers (perfect for a clean, flush installation with no visible gaps)

This tread is versatile and suitable for both closed riser housed stairs (traditional enclosed designs with visible strings) and closed riser sawtooth stairs (invisible strings). Each tread requires a riser to complete the step assembly.

Perfect for both new builds and renovations, the 30mm thick construction ensures long-lasting performance in family homes, while the pencil round nosing and overhang create a timeless, sophisticated finish that complements contemporary, coastal, or traditional designs.

Key Benefits:

  • Easy installation with pre-machined groove for quick riser fitting
  • Smooth, sanded surfaces ready for your choice of stain, oil, or clear finish
  • Naturally beautiful grain and tones that add warmth and character

Available in both 1m and 1.5m lengths to suit your project. All products are delivered raw, pre-finished sanded to 100 grit.

Kwila (also called Merbau) is a tough Australian and Southeast Asian hardwood that brings rich, warm colour to stair work. Freshly cut it shows golden to orange-brown tones that deepen over time into a handsome reddish-brown, often with small yellow flecks scattered through the timber. The grain is usually straight to interlocked with a moderately coarse but even texture, giving a clean, solid look once finished. Dense, hard and highly durable, Kwila stands up well in high-traffic areas and is a reliable choice for treads, risers, stringers, handrails and balustrades. It’s the go to choice for affordable external timbers as it naturally deters termites and is less susceptible to water ingress.
